I read a friends share post on facebook the other day about living with passive suicidal ideation (Found here) and I think it is interesting. There’s a lot of warfare going on in this world and not the depression-fight-with-ste-do-clikind you can physically see. The human body is a vessel to which things can be carried out against others and self good or bad. This leads me to a question that is directly/indirectly related. Why did Jesus come?

Something to think about

Did you know we we’re born into earth the way we are, we had no choice of the color of our skin or whether we’d be male or female? We had no choice whether we’d be born into a rich, poor, or middle class family. We had no say whether we’d be born into a single parent family or a family with brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins who would care about us. Whether we’d be born in one of the top tier countries on earth or a “labeled” 3rd world country we had no say. Lastly, we had no power to choose at what time we’d be born. If you did have a choice of when you would have been born would you have choose the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s?

We’re apart of something huge

Depression is real and so are demons. There are spirits on earth that can influence how we think, feel, behave, etc. During Jesus ministry of making salvation available to Jews and Gentiles he cast out many demons, the end result was and is beneficial. Jesus also healed people of their infirmities also. For reference here are a couple of scriptures:

Healing: Matthew 12:15, Matthew 14:14, Matthew 14:36

Casting out evil spirits from people: Mark 16:9, Luke 13:31, Matthew 17:14-21, Matthew 8:16, Matthew 12:22

There is still a need for these areas and healing and casting out of evil spirits is still happening today.

I’ve dealt with depression before and thoughts of suicide have come and gone but it is my firm belief God doesn’t want us to harm ourselves or others. I am reminded to focus on the fact God loves me and the world. Proof? (John 3:16) God sent Jesus as the sole source to reestablishing a personal relationship with mankind, we have to decide of our own free will if we want a relationship with God. Who is God? He is Yaweh our Elohim, creator of the heavens and earth and everything it. He is our source, our peace, our comfort, our protection, our strong tower. We all have an adversary who seeks to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).

The solution to an accuser is someone who defends the accused. Our defender before God is Jesus. The bible teaches he intercedes for the sons and daughters of God night and day against the accuser (Romans 8:34, Revelations 12:10). How do you become a son or daughter of God? You become one by receiving Jesus as Lord and savior, believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead, be baptized, and exercise your free will by repenting of your sin and turning away from sin.

Like many I am trying to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer, this takes a lot of denying self and practice. Am I perfect? Not by a long shot and that’s where God’s grace comes in. (Ephesians 2:8-9) In this race to the finish line I need you to fight, I need you to make it. Say no to suicide or Suicidality, cast away those thoughts of suicide and depression in Jesus name. Today you may not be going through depression or some temptation but tomorrow you may. I may be OK but tomorrow I may need you to pray for and encourage me as I pray for and encourage you today to stand in Jesus as I stand with you. (1 Peter 5:9) (Galatians 6:2)
